FAQ

What is your price range?

  • The standard price range of our wedding gowns is £2300-2950 and accessories £80-415. Alterations are charged separately.
  • Typically, including alterations, our brides spend £2500-3300 on their wedding gown.
  • Bespoke gown prices start at £3500, and they are made according to your measurements, so no alteration costs are added to the price.

What is the turnaround time and when should I book an appointment?

As our wedding gowns are made to order, the usual turnaround time for gowns is 18-20 weeks and for accessories 4 weeks. The best time to book your appointment is 7-12 months before your wedding. This eliminates extra stress from the process and gives you time to consider your decision.

If you are getting married sooner than 18-20 weeks, however, we are able to prioritise orders and have the items ready earlier. This requires special arrangements, and a priority order fee of £100-200 is added to your order total. If you have a tight schedule, contact us at info@indiebridelondon.co.uk and we’ll see what we can do for you.

Priority order charges:

Gowns
10-17 weeks turnaround time + £100
4-9 weeks turnaround time + £200

Accessories
2-3 weeks turnaround time + £50

Appointments

Can I come and try on the designs?

Yes, we would love to see you at our showroom in South London. You can read more about what to expect from your appointment here and book one here. If you're booking for a friend, please use the bride's contact information. Please note that our facilities are, unfortunately, not accessible with most mobility devices or buggies. Our showroom is in the attic of a church, and to get there, you need to walk up four flights of stairs.

If you have questions before booking an appointment, you can get in touch via email at info@indiebridelondon.co.uk, phone at +44777354678 or by dropping a message on Instagram at @indiebride.london. You can also book a free video call. We are here to help you through the whole process and would love to answer your enquiries.

How long is the appointment?

The appointment lasts for 90 minutes. Please arrive at your appointment on time, as we meet brides back-to-back and are not able to facilitate any early arrivals. If you do arrive early, however, we suggest you pop in to our neighbours Cafe van Gogh to have a cuppa and a piece of their delicious vegan cakes.

Do you charge for the appointments?

You can secure an appointment with a non-refundable £25 fee. This includes having the showroom all to yourself for 90 minutes, your very own bridal consultant/dressmaker, and a glass of bubbly for you and your guests. Second appointments are free of charge.

Can I bring guests to my appointment?

Yes, you're very welcome to bring guests with you. We advise bringing no more than three people with you. This is due to the size of our showroom and the fact that, in our experience, having too many people around may result in extra stress that might overwhelm you. You are welcome to make a video call to anyone who couldn't make it to the appointment. Book your appointment here.

Sample sizes

As in every other bridal boutique, the dresses you will be trying on are sample sizes (mostly bridal sizes 10 and 12, as well as some sizes 16). This means that they are unlikely to fit you perfectly. Our showroom is small, so having the samples in every size would be impossible. It's also a huge financial investment for a small business like us to make sample dresses in more than one or two sizes. We'll try our best to show you what the dresses will look like when the fit is perfect, but this can take some imagination to picture.

Can I take pictures or do a video call during my appointment?

This is not a straightforward question to answer. While we understand the desire to take pictures to remind yourself of the dresses you tried on, we advise against this if the sample dress doesn't fit you nicely. We want you to remember how the dresses made you feel when wearing them. It's our experience that when you go through the pictures at home over and over, you start to only see the ill fit of the sample dresses and forget how you actually felt wearing them. This might lead to you discarding a dress that you absolutely loved at the showroom and that would look amazing on you when the fit is perfect. We welcome you to visit us again to try on your favourites free of charge. We hope this makes sense.

What should I wear to my appointment?

The best thing to wear is well-fitting, nude-coloured and plain underwear (seamless pants if possible). Try to avoid bright colours and black. Choose the best-fitting bra, as bad underwear will have an affect on how the dress and materials sit, and good underwear will help the dress look its best. We have some heels for you to wear.

Gowns

Are the gowns made-to-measure?

Our gowns are not made to measure by default. You can have a standard-size gown altered for an additional fee or have the gown tailored to your body for an extra £350.

What is your size range?

Our standard sizing goes from UK8 to UK20. Note that bridal sizing differs from high street sizing. If you usually wear a size 10 on the high street, you are most likely to be a size 12 or even 14 when it comes to bridal sizing. See our size guide before placing an order, and let us know if you have any questions about the sizing.

Do you offer alteration services?

We offer a full alterations service for our dresses. Alterations are charged on top of the standard price of a dress. You can read more about our alteration service here.

Can I alter the dress styles?

Yes, you can. We make the dresses in our London studio and, therefore, can accommodate any requests and even make bespoke gowns. Please read the alterations service for full information about what we can do for you. If you want to have a custom-made or bespoke gown, please get in touch with us at info@indiebridelondon.co.uk.

Where are your materials made?

The UK, China and India.

Where are the gowns made?

All our gowns are handcrafted in our studio in South London.

How do I store and care for my gown?

Dry clean your gown after the wedding as soon as possible. Then fold it loosely and store it in a box. Do not hang your gown, as it might stretch over time.

Placing an order

How do I buy a gown?

You can place an order at the showroom or by emailing us at info@indiebridelondon.com.

Can I pay in instalments?

You can pay in two instalments. However, we require the gown to be paid in full before we start making it. If you wish to pay in instalments we’ll send you two separate invoices.

Can I cancel my order?

An order is considered placed when we have emailed you the first invoice. You can cancel your order within 48 hours without a cancellation fee. If you cancel your order after 48 hours but before production has begun, you will be charged a cancellation fee of £300. This covers the cost of administration associated with your order. If the production of your gown has begun, you won't be entitled to any kind of refund.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes, we ship worldwide. You can place an order for any item via email at info@indiebirdelondon.co.uk. The delivery will be insured, and we will provide you with a tracking code. Please note that the recipient is liable for any customs fees.

Stockists

Can I become a stockist?

Yes, we're happy to welcome new stockists! Please get in touch at info@indiebridelondon.co.uk and we can tell you more about our gowns and send you a lookbook.
