FAQ

General

What is your price range?

  • Wedding gowns: £2300-2600
  • Veils and sashes: £80-400
  • The made-to-fit service is £300 or £490 (depending on the structure of your dress) and includes all the fit alterations and fittings needed, so you can be sure your dress will fit you perfectly.
  • Fully bespoke gowns starting at £3500

What is the turnaround time, and when should I book an appointment?

As our wedding gowns are made to order in London, UK, the usual turnaround time for gowns is 5-6 months and for accessories 4-6 weeks. The best time to book your appointment is 9-12 months before your wedding. This eliminates extra stress from the process, allows you to consider your decision, and leaves time for alterations.

Do you offer priority order service?

If your schedule doesn't allow the 5-6 month turnaround time, we are able to prioritise some orders and have the items ready earlier. This requires special arrangements, and a priority order fee of £100-400 is added to your order total. If you have a tight schedule, get in touch via email and we’ll see what we can do for you.

Priority order charges:

Gowns

Under 5 months + £100
Under 4 months + £200
Under 3 months + £300
5-7 weeks + £400

Accessories

2-3 weeks turnaround time + £50

Appointments

Where is your showroom located?

Our showroom is located in South London in the UK. The nearest tube station, just a 5-minute walk from us, is Oval, which is on the Northern line.

Please note that our facilities are, unfortunately, not accessible with most mobility devices or buggies. Our showroom is in the attic of a church, and to get there, you need to walk up four flights of stairs.

What can I expect from my appointment?

You can read more about what to expect from your appointment here and book one here. If you're booking for a friend, please use the bride's contact information.

How long is the appointment?

The dress browsing appointment is 90 minutes and accessories only appointment is 45 minutes.

Please arrive at your appointment on time so that we can keep our schedule on track and offer you a rush-free appointment.

Do you charge for the appointments?

You can secure an appointment with a non-refundable £25 fee. This includes having the showroom all to yourself for 90 minutes with a bridal wear consultant/dressmaker there to assist you at every moment. Second appointments are free of charge.

Can I bring guests to my appointment?

Yes, you're very welcome to bring guests with you. We advise bringing no more than three people with you. This is due to the size of our showroom and the fact that, in our experience, having too many people present at your appointment may result in extra stress that might overwhelm you. You are welcome to make a video call to anyone who couldn't make it to the appointment.

What sizes are your sample dresses?

As in every other bridal boutique, the dresses you will be trying on are sample dresses, mostly in UK bridal sizes 10 and 12, as well as some sizes 16 and bigger (at the moment Kay, Tanita, Pixie, Magnolia and Wylie). This means that they are unlikely to fit you perfectly. Our showroom is small, so having the samples in every size would be impossible. It's also a huge financial investment for a small business like us to make sample dresses in more than one or two sizes. We'll try our best to show you what the dresses will look like when the fit is perfect, but this can take some imagination to picture.

Can I take pictures or do a video call during my appointment?

While we understand the desire to take pictures to remind yourself of the dresses you tried on, we advise against this if the sample dress doesn't fit you nicely. We want you to remember how the dresses made you feel when wearing them. It's our experience that when you go through the pictures at home over and over, you start to only see the ill fit of the sample dresses and forget how you actually felt wearing them. This might lead to you discarding a dress that you absolutely loved at the showroom and that would look amazing on you when the fit is perfect. We welcome you to visit us again to try on your favourites free of charge. We hope this makes sense.

What should I wear to my appointment?

If possible, the best item to wear is well-fitting, nude-coloured and plain underwear (seamless pants if possible). Try to avoid bright colours and black. Choose the best-fitting bra, as bad underwear will have an affect on how the dress and materials sit, and good underwear will help the dress look its best. We have some heels for you to wear, so bringing heels is not necessary.

The Wedding Dresses

Are the dresses made-to-fit?

Our wedding dresses are not made to fit you by default. However, you can have your wedding dress made to fit your body for an additional fee of £300 or £490, depending on the structure of your dress. You can read more about our bridal services here.

What is your size range?

Our standard sizing goes from UK size 8 to UK size 20. Note that bridal sizing differs from high street sizing. If you usually wear a size 10 on the high street, you are most likely to be a size 12 when it comes to bridal wear. However, any dress can be made to fit you, no matter the shape and size of your body.

Can I alter the dress styles?

Yes, you can. We make the dresses in our studio in London, UK and, therefore, can accommodate any requests and even make bespoke dresses. Please see our bridal services for full information about what we can do for you. If you want to have a custom-made or bespoke dress, please get in touch with us at info@indiebridelondon.co.uk.

Where are your materials made?

The materials we use are made in the UK (laces and linens), China (certified organic bamboo, ramie and cotton), and India (handwoven silk and eucalyptus fabric). Read more about our sustainable materials here.

Where are the dresses made?

All our wedding dresses are handcrafted in our studio in South London, UK.

How do I store and care for my wedding dress?

After the wedding, dry clean your wedding dress as soon as possible. Then fold it loosely and store it in a box. Do not hang your gown as it might stretch over time.

Or if you want to keep wearing your dress again and again, let us alter it for you! Read more about our Repurpose Your Wedding Dress here.
