Who we are
Indie Bride London is bohemian luxury without the wedding fuss and hassle. We create heirloom-quality wedding dresses for laid-back brides who want to, instead of transforming into a Disney princess, look like the bridal version of themselves and feel comfortable and confident, ready to embrace the excitement and magic on their wedding day. Our bohemian and romantic wedding dresses are ethically handmade in London using sustainable materials.
Where it Began
The story of Indie Bride London started as a women’s wear brand, Minna, in 2008. The brand got its name from its founder, Minna Hepburn, who wanted to offer women romantic dresses and tops, handmade in London using the finest British laces. Over the years, Minna learned that some of her clients were wearing her dresses on their wedding days because they couldn’t find a wedding dress in this romantic, bohemian, and laid-back style they loved. This gave Minna an idea. Instead of high-end dresses and tops, she started making the most gorgeous wedding dresses for the brides who wanted to look and feel like themselves on their wedding day without compromising the quality or feeling comfortable.
Miina Laitsaari, the current owner of Indie Bride London, joined the company as an intern in 2010, when the business was still crafting dresses and tops for everyday use. In 2019, after holding several different positions in the company, she was presented with the opportunity to acquire the business. It goes without saying that it didn’t take much persuasion for Miina to make one of the most epic decisions of her entire life and take over the business she loved so dearly. Sometimes life takes you to exactly where you were meant to be when you didn’t even know that you were meant to be there.
And where we are now
Passionately making the most beautiful, romantic, and bohemian wedding dresses in the most sustainable and ethical way we can for thecool and free-spirited brides. Our dresses make our brides feel comfortable on their wedding day so that they can fully enjoy the magic of celebrating the love between them and their soulmate. In addition to new, exciting sustainable materials, we still use the same, highest-quality British laces that we have used since the beginning. Some of the manufacturers have been weaving lace in the UK for the past 250 years. Some of them are still weaving lace with looms that are more than 100 years old, and some of the laces we use have patterns that were designed in the early 1900s. As a sustainable business, we are very proud to support this British tradition that has seen a decline over the past decades. These materials were carefully chosen over a decade ago, and they still complement our ethos of crafting heirloom-quality dresses of the highest quality.
