Relaxed woodland wedding at the Two Woods Estate
THE WEDDING DRESS JOURNEY
What made Indie Bride London stand out from the other wedding dress suppliers you were considering, and why did you ultimately choose us?
I loved Indie Bride London from the moment I found out about you! The biggest pull for me was that you use ethical and sustainable materials. Supporting small businesses is important to me, and Miina was able to deliver a personalised and holistic approach to my wedding dress. I live in Canada, and she was still able to make it for me and work with my international timelines, as well as comprehensively give me all the information I needed. The studio itself is incredibly beautiful and cosy and the experience was very special.
If you had to describe your experience with Indie Bride London in one sentence, how would you do it?
Personalised, judgement-free and comforting.
What was the biggest worry about your wedding that Indie Bride London helped alleviate?
I am not a traditional or particularly feminine bride, and didn't want a dress that made me feel inauthentic. Miina handcrafts all the dresses, and my worries evaporated when I found the comfortable, ethereal and laid-back Pixie dress. It was the first dress I tried on, and I knew immediately I wanted to wear it on my wedding day.
THE WEDDING
Tell us about your bridal look
I wanted a natural, woodland look for my wedding day. Naomi Spurr did an amazing job on my hair and makeup. I had soft, natural, and glowy makeup, and almost elven-style braided hair with natural flowers woven in. My flowers were handmade by a wonderful family-owned florist in Ukraine, and Inna was amazing in creating a woodland orange bouquet and flower arches from silk petals. I kept my accessories very minimal, wearing a simple pearl necklace and earrings!
Where did you get married, and why did you choose that venue?
My husband and I have always loved nature and the outdoors and knew we wanted to get married in the woods. When we found Two Woods Estate, it felt meant to be! The owners are incredibly accommodating and work to make the day as special as possible. The woodland ceremony space was perfect and romantic; we then had cocktail hour and games in the bluebell meadow. After, we were able to dine out on the terrace and dance all night in a converted barn. We were so lucky to have the first sunny day of the year in the U.K. in 2024!
What did you have as entertainment and food at your wedding?
We had pizza and paella on our wedding day, and for entertainment we played lawn games all afternoon followed by a brass band in the evening - which was so much fun and had everyone on their feet!
Was there anything that went wrong on your wedding day, and how did you deal with it?
It is very cliche, but nothing went wrong at all! We had a perfect day and George and I wouldn't change a thing.
Apart from saying yes to your husband, what was your favourite moment on your wedding day?
George and I did a 'first look' on our wedding day, before the ceremony. This was definitely my favourite moment as it felt so special, and just being able to see each other alleviated any nerves and created a magical excitement ahead of our vows.
What advice would you give to brides who are still planning their wedding?
To enjoy every second, and don't let the pressure of the wedding industry sway you - plan the day that you and your spouse want, irrespective of conventions, to make it most authentically about you.
