Peek Inside The Journey to Have Your Wedding Dress Handcrafted by Indie Bride London

Choosing a wedding dress is a big part of your wedding planning, and we believe the experience should be enjoyable, transparent, and free from unnecessary stress. At Indie Bride London, we keep the process simple but thorough, ensuring you feel supported from your first appointment to the moment you take your dress home. Here’s how it works:
Initial Browsing Appointment
Your journey starts with a 90-minute browsing appointment at our relaxed showroom. We want you to feel comfortable, so kick off your shoes if you like, and enjoy a complimentary glass of Prosecco or elderflower cordial. You’ll have complete freedom to browse and select the dresses you want to try on, with no restrictions on how many you can try. Some brides try on five, others fifteen. If you’d like suggestions, we’re happy to help. We’ll never push you into making a decision about your wedding dress on the spot. We believe you should have time to think it over. After the appointment, we’ll email you the details of your favourite dresses, and if you’d like to come back to try on the dresses on your shortlist, you can book another visit free of charge.

Measurements Appointment
Once you’ve chosen your dress, the next step is deciding whether you want a standard-size dress or a made-to-fit dress.
Standard size: We create the dress in the closest size to your measurements, and you’ll arrange your own alterations. This is a practical option if you live far from London and can’t commit to multiple visits.
Made-to-fit, customised or bespoke: If you choose this option, we’ll schedule a measurements appointment around seven months before you need the dress, during which we take the measurements needed and decide the details of any design changes you wish to have. This allows us enough time to create a gown that fits you perfectly. Please bring your wedding lingerie to this appointment (and to the following fittings) to ensure we take the most accurate measurements possible.

3–4 Fittings
Perfecting the fit of a handcrafted dress takes time, which is why we schedule three to four fittings. The first fitting is usually with a toile, which is a mock-up of your dress in a plain fabric such as calico or muslin. This step allows us to refine the fit before we cut into your chosen fabric. All of our dresses are made by hand in the very same building where your fittings take place, so any adjustments can be addressed quickly and accurately. Once the toile is approved, we construct your final gown and invite you for additional fittings to make any necessary refinements. These fittings are typically spread out over the 1–6 months leading up to your collection date.
Collection
Collection usually takes place a few weeks after your last fitting. During this final appointment, you’ll try the dress on one last time so we can confirm everything from the fit to the length is exactly as it should be. We then hand over your gown sealed in a garment bag and folded into a large carrier bag for safe and convenient transport.
We want you to feel confident not only in the dress you’ve chosen but also in the process that got you there. We are always just an email or a phone call away if you have any questions about the process, and there’s no pressure, no hidden surprises—just a clear, step-by-step journey to creating a dress that’s right for you. From that first relaxed appointment to the moment you walk out with your gown in hand, we focus on making the experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
