Catherine and Andy's South London pub wedding

Catherine and Andy's South London pub wedding

Catherine chose our beautiful Gaia dress (the original style) to wear on her big day and paired it with the sweetest wedding heels ever! I love Catherine and Andy's modern story and how they implemented it into their wedding day.

Congratulations Catherine and Andy!

How did you two meet?

Like many others, Andy and I met on the internet, but I had decided to give up internet dating that very night because I was so disillusioned with the whole thing! I’d messaged him, thinking he wouldn’t respond...but he did! We texted like mad, met about 2 weeks later and moved in together within the year.
When planning our wedding we knew we wanted to do everything in South London where we live and nearly all of our suppliers were based in South London.

The dress and bridal look

I wanted a vintage style dress that would work with my tattoos! As soon as I visited Indiebride London I knew I’d found the home of my dress! The whole process was so easy, and Miina was so relaxed and helpful, even letting me pay in instalments. Choosing a dress wasn’t as easy because they were all so delightful but I pretty much knew my dress was the one when I put it on. Miina is also just lovely and always welcomed friends and family along with me.

My makeup and hair was by Flame Beauty. I wore a vintage locket with a picture of my father in it, and Simone Rocha earrings, bought for me by Andy especially for the day. Shoes were by Charlotte Olympia. My veil was also by Indiebride London.
We had 5 flower girls and one page boy! We got the dresses and suit from Matalan and the shoes were from Monsoon and Vans. Our page boy wore a Liberty dinosaur print bow tie! Our bridesmaids wore ASOS dresses and shoes.
Andy’s, my brother and the best man’s suits were from Ted Baker at Moss Bros. My brother gave me away on the day and did a great job.

The venues

We married at St Chad’s Roman Catholic Church in South Norwood and our reception was held at the Bridge House pub in Penge, right next to Crystal Palace park. We loved the cosiness of the pub, and the landlord Sinon Kelly is awesome. He delivered the Irish welcome that was so important to us, particularly with me coming from a large Irish family. He provided all of the food and organised the DJ...we had a real good knees up. Sinon and his team looked after everyone so well and so many people commented on what a great reception it was and how good the food was! To quote our pageboy's father it was “everything he’d ever wanted on a plate”!

The cake

Our wonderful cake was made by Blossom and Crumb, we had 3 flavours - lemon drizzle, Black Forest and chocolate Guinness. Our dinosaur cake toppers were from Melabogo.

The decor

Our first proper date was spent wandering in Crystal Palace park and so we wanted a dinosaur theme. We had gold spray painted dinosaurs everywhere amongst tea lights and flowers in vintage vases and jars. I had a dinosaur in my bouquet. We also had pictures of my father (who is much missed) on a table in the pub. The wonderful Posy and Wild took care of all the flowers, button holes, flower crowns and bouquets and also decorated the venue for us.

Biggest shout out has to go to our photographer Jo from Joasis Photography. She was superb, from meeting up and planning, to our engagement shoot, to the day itself. Jo and her assistant were so enthusiastic and very good at herding hungry and cold people together for photos (after a long catholic ceremony). She took us to Crystal Palace park, in our vintage mini wedding car from Small Car Big City, for our photos with dinosaurs and made it really special. Then afterwards we got the most delightful box of photos and our album. We couldn’t recommend her highly enough and again our guests commented on her enthusiasm and dedication to the job.
The only thing missing was my father, who passed away very suddenly in 2013. I think he would have approved of both my choice of husband and the party!”
