Eleanor and James' bohemian wedding

Posted on July 06 2019

Eleanor and her mum were so lovely and great fun! Eleanor knew quite exactly what she was looking for in terms of the dress and chose our beautiful maxi dress Lucinda, that is made of delicate Scottish lace. I love the vibes in Eleanor and James' wedding pictures! Congratulations lovelies!

THE PROPOSAL

James and I met on Tinder in 2015 while living in Manchester. He was a police officer and I was at university. We moved in together in 2016 and he proposed on the Isle of Skye in Scotland in 2018 at Neist Point (a beautiful little outcrop into the Atlantic).

THE VENUE

So, we got planning the wedding pretty quickly as the venue was going to be at my family hotel on the outskirts of the Lake District called The Black Swan https://www.blackswanhotel.com/ in Ravenstonedale. There was one weekend available so it was all pretty straightforward.

THE DRESS

My mum then got to work with organising to have some dress fittings and finding what we would want. She did a bit of research online and when she searched for 'Indie bride' you popped up and we were very excited. We were coming down to London for a hotel awards ceremony and only made one appointment, with you. I have to say, the church setting and your showroom are absolutely gorgeous and so relaxed. We had a wonderful time and tried on about 5 dresses, settling on my beautiful dress which I was so happy with! It was exactly what I had imagined and was so professionally made and organised by Miina. Thank you!

DECOR

For flowers we used a friend of mine's mum who's relatively local to us and who I had followed on Instagram for years to see her beautiful creations! Caroline, Rosh and everyone from Verde Flowers in Weardale were absolutely amazing and used my brief of "a Weasley wedding' to create the most beautiful hanging displays, head wreaths, bouquets and arches to decorate our beautiful marquee from The Original Marquees company which was also very professionally put up by friendly staff. Caroline grows all the flowers herself and they are totally beautiful! She foraged for some foliage in our hotel's adjoining woods and everything she did was beautifully arranged with may flowers, leaves and herbs.

ENTERTAINMENT

The Moonshine Shakers from Sedbergh created a folk atmosphere with their covers of classics and everyone really enjoyed them! Everyone at The Black Swan were totally amazing and it was so nice to be able to set up everything ourselves (with it being our family home) and for everyone from the hotel to be able to be a part of it!

FOOD AND CAKE

The buffet they put on for our 250ish guest was amazing with delicious pies, meats and pastas. Nova from Precisely Iced in county Durham, an old family friend, made the most amazing naked cake which totally fit our theme and was amazing with all the beautiful fruit.

It was a very relaxed wedding and we wanted everyone to have a chilled out day in the countryside with lots of fun, folk music and dancing and it went so well. Thank you to everyone who made our day special and thank you to Miina for making my dress so beautiful! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day from anyone!
